Request for Volunteers on Boards and Commissions

Do you have just a couple hours a month to contribute to your community?  The City of Glenwood Springs is looking for applicants to fill vacancies on the following Boards and Commissions.

The composition and powers and duties for each of the Boards and Commissions are included on the applications. Applications can be found on the specific board or commission webpage.

The City Council at its discretion may appoint up to three persons as an alternate member for each board or commission. If you are interested in a board or commission without a current vacancy, please contact us to see if an alternate position could be appointed.

Airport Board

  • Two regular seats with terms from March 2024 through March 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits.
  • Applications due January 31, 2024 by end of day.

Arts and Culture Board

  • Four regular seats and one alternate seat with terms from March 2024 through March 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits.
  • One regular youth representative seat with a term from March 2024 through March 2027. Must be under the age of 18 and reside in city limits or attend school in city limits.
  • Applications due January 31, 2024 by end of day.

Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board

Financial Advisory Board

  • One regular seat with a term to expire February 2026, and two regular seats with terms from February 2024 until February 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits or be a non-resident, but shall own or be employed by a tourism business within the city.
  • Applications due December 31, 2023 by end of day.

Historic Preservation Commission

  • One regular seat with a term to expire April 2025 and one regular seat with a term from April 2024 until April 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits.
  • Applications due February 29, 2024 by end of day.

Housing Commission

  • Four regular seats with terms from April 2024 until April 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits.
  • Applications due February 29, 2024 by end of day.

Parks and Recreation Commission

  • Three regular seats with terms from March 2024 through March 2027. One member may reside outside of the City but within the 81601 zip code area or own real property or a business within the City.
    • Applications due January 31, 2024 by end of day.
  • One youth representative seat who shall serve a one-year term from June 1 to May 31 of the following year. Must be under the age of 18 and reside in city limits or attend school in city limits.
    • Applications due April 30, 2024 by end of day.

Planning and Zoning Commission

  • Three regular seats with terms from February 2024 through February 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits.
  • Applications due December 31, 2023 by end of day.

River Commission

  • Four regular seats with terms from March 2024 through March 2027. Must reside within Glenwood Springs city limits.
  •  Applications due January 31, 2024 by end of day. 

Tourism Management Board

  • Five regular seats with terms to expire February 2027. One Lodging seat, one Tourism seat, one Resident seat, One Resident or Business seat, and one seat appointed by the Chamber of Commerce. 
  • Applications due December 15, 2023 by end of day.

Victim's and Witnesses Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) Board   

  • Four regular seats with a term from April 2024 until April 2027. One seat may reside outside of the City but within the 81601 zip code area or own real property or a business within the City.
  • Applications due February 29, 2024 by end of day.
