Guidelines

  1. Guest Permits will no longer be issued. Any existing Guest Permits will be invalid after May 1, 2019.
  2. Current Residential Parking permits (except Guest Permits) will be valid through their expiration date. There is no need to apply for a new permit until it expires.
  3. Residents are required to apply for permits in person at the Police Department, show proof of residency and registration for the vehicle.
  4. A maximum of two permits will be issued per residential unit. They must be applied for and issued individually.
  5. Permits will be valid for a maximum of one year, with renewals processed by the original application standards within 30 days of expiration. Expired permits must be returned to the Police Department upon renewal.
  6. Permits will only be valid for the vehicle matching the registration provided upon issuance.
  7. Permits will only apply to the exemption of the 2 Hour limits in the downtown zone. They will not exempt parking in short-term loading zones, no parking zones or handicap spaces.
  8. Parking on public streets is limited to 72 hours under State Law and City Ordinances. Permit holders must comply by moving their vehicle, at least, every 72 hours.
  9. Residential Parking Permits are not transferable. Abuse or “loaning” of permits will result in revocation of all permits issued to the residential unit.
  10. Residential Parking Permits are not valid in the 700 block of Copper Avenue, the 700 block of Colorado Avenue or the City/County lot on the east side of Colorado Avenue. Vehicles with permits that park in these areas will be treated like a non-permitted vehicle for purposes of enforcement.
  11. Other City parking lots or structures that are signed for 24 hour parking will be allotted for 72 hour parking for permitted vehicles.

Tracking of permits will be the responsibilty of the Glenwood Springs Police Department. Changes in information, such as new vehicle, license plate or resident’s contact number, must be reported to the Police Department.
